Buckets that feel like yours. Downloads cost nothing.

Create a bucket in one of our locations, browse and upload files in the browser, share one with a link that expires, and reach it from any S3 tool. A bucket is charged for what it holds and the requests made against it — never for what is downloaded.

/what-a-bucket-does

Storage without a provider’s vocabulary.

Everything here works today. Rates are shown in the app before you create a bucket.

01

Browse and upload in the browser.

The Files tab browses a bucket by folder with a real cursor, so ten million files browse as fast as ten. Uploads and downloads go straight between your browser and storage through links that expire — the bytes never pass through our API, so a 4 GB file takes nothing of ours.

  • Folders, batch delete, a file’s details — and every action on the bucket’s own activity.
  • One upload link carries up to 5 GB; above that, any S3 tool uploads in parts on its own.
  • Nothing on these screens polls: every request is one you asked for, and billed as such.

02

A web address of your own.

Make a bucket public and it serves its files at an address of ours — crm-exports.storage… — never a provider’s hostname. Nobody can list a public bucket: a file is reachable only by someone who knows its name. A private bucket has no address at all; its files are reached through the app, links that expire, or a key.

  • Share any file with a link that expires, from an hour up to seven days.
  • A file changed through the app has its cached copy cleared at once; clear a whole bucket’s on demand.
  • Renaming a bucket never changes its address, so links people have keep working.

03

Any S3 tool, one bucket per key.

The Connect tab gives the endpoint, the region, the bucket name and working examples for Node, Python, the command line and rclone. A key opens one bucket and nothing else: permanent until revoked, or temporary — an hour, a day or seven days, optionally limited to one folder. The secret is shown once and never stored.

  • Read-only or read-write, per key — the key list keeps names and ids, never a secret.
  • A temporary key expires by itself; the screen says so rather than offering a revoke button.
  • Deleting a bucket revokes its permanent keys.

import boto3 s3 = boto3.client("s3", endpoint_url=ENDPOINT, region_name="auto",                  aws_access_key_id=KEY_ID, aws_secret_access_key=SECRET)s3.upload_file("leads-q3.csv", "crm-exports-k7x2m9", "exports/leads-q3.csv") # the key opens crm-exports and nothing else — on another bucket it is refused

04

Billed on what it held.

A bucket has no monthly price. Each day’s peak size is added up and divided by 30 — a GB-month — and the writes and reads made against it are counted, both read from the storage service’s own figures. Nobody is rounded up: 1.1 GB is billed as 1.1 GB. Downloads are free, so there is no bandwidth line at all.

  • The Usage tab shows every day, from the same rows the invoice is built from.
  • Every figure shown as money is priced the way the invoice prices it — never a sum of rounded days.
  • If request counts ever can’t be read, the page says so instead of showing zero.

05

Rules a bucket keeps on its own.

Files that delete themselves after a number of days or on a date; retention that really refuses a delete or an overwrite, for days, until a date, or indefinitely; and which websites may reach the bucket from a browser. Removing the last protection asks for the bucket’s name typed back — adding protection never asks.

  • Uploads that never finished are cleaned up after 7 days — a platform rule that never touches a finished file.
  • While retention is in force the bucket cannot be emptied or deleted, and the button says why.
  • Copy a bucket in from Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Another S3-compatible service or Google Cloud Storage — the source keys are used once, never stored.

06

Data is never deleted by a timer.

Every bucket is named before it is created and every call that can cost money is written down first; both sides are compared on a schedule. One difference from servers matters: a bucket that no record owns is reported to a person — never destroyed automatically — because it holds data.

  • Deleting empties the bucket first and is only “deleted” once the storage service confirms it is gone.
  • You type the bucket’s name to delete it; staff type the name and a reason.
  • A bucket that goes missing stops being metered and says so on its page.

/faq

Storage, answered plainly.

Something else? Write to [email protected] or use the contact page — a person answers.

Is it compatible with S3?

Yes — any S3 client works with the endpoint, region, bucket name and key from the Connect tab: an S3 SDK in your language, boto3, rclone or an S3 command-line tool. The endpoint is the storage service’s own hostname, because S3 signs the host into every request; the bucket’s address of ours is for reading public files in a browser.

What does it cost?

Three rates, shown in the app before you create a bucket: stored data per GB-month, writes and reads per million. Downloads are free. There is no monthly price per bucket.

Can I host a website from a bucket?

A public bucket serves its files at its own address through a CDN, and nobody can list it. There is no directory listing and no custom domain for a bucket — its address is ours.

How do I move data in from another cloud?

From the bucket’s Import tab: Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Another S3-compatible service, Google Cloud Storage. The copy is run by the storage service itself, with progress, pause and resume, and every skipped file explained. Your source credentials are used for that one request and never stored.

What happens to a bucket when my organization is deleted?

Its buckets are emptied and deleted with it — data does not outlive the organization. This is the one case where a retention rule is overridden, and the record says so.
